CNVP continues to develop education activities on forest and biodiversity with students of high schools in Gjirokastra region. CNVP organized with the students of High School in Dervican village, Dropull Municipality a half day activity in 'Bredhi Sotires' National Park which was funded through the Forests for Local Economic Development project that is supported by the Embassy of Sweden in Tirana.
CNVP did this activity with the students based on CNVP agreement signed with the Regional Directorate of Education to collaborate on education activities in targeted schools. The students got knowledge on forest values, ecosystems, biodiversity and management of national parks. This activity combined field trip with exercises and knowledge on forest and nature environment aiming the students to fall in love with forests, not become overwhelmed with all the threats forests face. Most likely the students have heard about the threats facing forests and forest inhabitants, so activity wanted to provide this information to be able to answer their questions. The topic came up in a discussion to wrap up with positive conservation messages, either about what others are doing to help protected forest, or what the students can do to help protected forests. The activity was appreciated by both students and teachers. They liked it and evaluated it very interesting, concrete and complementary with school programme.
CNVP will continue collaboration with teachers to organize such activities which are attractive for students as well.
