On Thursday, 8th November in Prespa National Park offices in Gorica e vogel was organized the assessment of Prespa National Park Management through METT (Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool) developed with the support of PONT (Prespa – Ohrid Nature Trust) experts. It is the first time that this tool is applied to assess Prespa National Park Management.
Representatives from different Projects/ Programs which support the National Parks and conservation organizations in Prespa region such as PONT, Trans boundary Biosphere Reserve Prespa, CNVP, Pustec Municipality and local NGOs attended the activity. CNVP representatives were invited to participate in this assessment by contributing to the evaluation process through opinions and suggestions related to the work that has been done from the Prespa National Park Administration during 2017-2018 and the work needed to be done in the future.
METT method focused mainly on the participatory assessment among actors working with the National Park of Prespa based to 12 risk factors and 30 specific, cultural and social risks that are related to the issues concerning Protected Areas. During the discussions and evaluation process the role that CNVP Albania has played in the better management of the National Park of Prespa was mentioned several time as an important and reliable actor.
